If the pandemic is an accelerator, we could see a rise in distributed ledger technologies for tracing and voting and in the issuance of digital tokens as a mean of capital raising and exchange of goods and services. Singapore, with the newly enacted Payment Services Act and a wealth of such projects attracted to the Country, is at the forefront of yet another industry that may solve a number of current problems in the wake of the next normal. This must be conducted within a clear legal framework that is applicable to both local and foreign investors.
